Instagram now lets businesses schedule their posts using third-party services

Instagram has just added third-party scheduling of posts to its platform. The feature currently works for photos and is only available for business profiles.

Scheduling via third-party services means that businesses will be required to pay a subscription fee through Facebook Marketing Partners or Instagram Partners. Platforms such as HootSuite and Sprout Social are already part of the partner networks.

According to Patrick Cuttica, director of product marketing at Sprout Social:

“This is a huge win for the more than 20,000 brands and agencies that use Sprout Social to manage their Instagram profiles. It has easily been one of our top requested features for the past several years. In conjunction with Sprout’s publishing suite, this update will save them time and help streamline their content strategies so they can focus on developing the world’s most beloved brands.”

Meanwhile, regular scheduling will be rolled out across user profiles in early 2019. With the addition of third-party scheduling, Instagram has also added the capabilities for businesses to view profile information of competitors and other business as well as public posts they have been tagged in.
